Breeding Season going well

Filed under: TSK — Dan @ 10:27 am

Well we are well into the breeding season. For the most part it is going very well. I still have a couple hold out males that are more than big enough but just do not want to rise to the occasion. Funny how males can do that to you just put a project on hold. We hope that by mid March they will get with the program but you never know.

Our boas are going to have a real good year. I actually have more boa females than I can breed this season. If you need any nice big ready to produce CA females let me know. I probably have 30 that I just can not breed that are ready to go.

GTP’s are doing well too. We should have a few clutches this season. I hope to have the pairings up on the site soon for you to check out. I even have a few surprises to show you soon. We are looking forward to some great things with GTP’s.

Should be a great year ahead for everyone. Breeding has been going strong here and we should see some nice animals. Well if you are around CA this weekend stop in and see us.

Today work

Filed under: TSK — Dan @ 7:37 pm

Today was spent cleaning cages. I have been getting all the females changed out completly. Meaning all new shavings for the breeding season. Took me a week to get through them all. That may seem like a long time but when you have to answer the phone and run the business it takes a long time. You only get a few cages done then something comes up that takes you away from what you are doing. Some of you are probably laughing as you know just what I am talking about. Tomorrow we will be removing the females from the male cages and feeding. Next storm is this weekend so we have to feed fast then set up more for breeding. Thats the cycle in the winter breed & feed.

Friday

Filed under: TSK — Dan @ 12:47 pm

We have been real busy these past few days. I am setting up a new coloney of mice and that just takes alot of work. Tearing everything down and starting over is not too much fun. But heading into winter is a good time to do it.

Also I wanted to share this picture

Fire Bee

Fire Bee

This is our Fire Bee. Just an awsome new morph for 2009. Not sure what is going on but our line of Fire sure seems to be a nice one. Ours comes from Africa about 8 years ago or so I would guess. She was an adult when we got her. So she is not related to the other fire blood out there but she seems to have a cleaner gene. Something special for sure.

Had a few more breedings going on yesterday as well. So 2010 is off and running. We even shut off the incubator today as the last of the babies were done. A very good year I would say and 2010 is looking to top it. Cold and snowing here right now on the mountains. Got to go and get some more work done to get out of here early today.

Available are adult mice, Rats- small, Med, large. Prices .50 – 1.50

My route will be the I 15 south from Provo Ut, St George, Las Vegas, Barstow, Palmdale/ Lancaster Then either down the 14 into the San Franando Valley or out to Orange County.

NARBC Chicago

Filed under: TSK — Dan @ 9:46 am

Well this year I thought I would drive out to Chicago. So I packed up the motorhome and headed out. I arrived here last night. Everything went great getting here mostly before the storms. It is raining out right now just waiting to get in to start the set up stages of the show. Our first year here it was cold and raining and it looks like this year is going to be the same but that does nto seem to slow the people of Chicago down too much. Colette was not able to come this time around. Just too much going on with the kids at home so she wanted to be sure ot be at all the Lacrosse games going on this weekend. Plus driving here makes it a seven day trip. Long time to be away from the kids. So how do you think the site is looking? I hope you have clicked on the logo by now and see what happens when you do. I think it is cool if you like the “Classic” look. If you have not made your own profile yet you should. It open a few new things for you to use. Well time to go see if I can get to my tables or not yet. See you here in Chicago.

In a bit of pain…

Filed under: TSK — Dan @ 9:19 pm

Well working trying to get things ready for the breeding season I must have worked to hard. My back went out a bit so I have been taking it easy the last day or two. Glad it is the weekend. Next week I am in SLC, UT for the reptile show and then I am off to Chicago for the NARBC show. Always look forward to Chicago as it is a great show and the people a great as well. Plus we always get some great food there. It will be an adventure this time around as I am driving out there in the motorhome. I love getting out and driving but two days straight is going to get a little stiff on the back but it should be fun.

Then someday I was driving with my snake on my way to the vet and I had a car accident, both of us got hurt. Luckily everything ended up okay. They recommended some cbd pet treats so my snake could recover from that terrible injury he suffered. The pain has reduced a lot since I started giving him the treatment.

Back to getting the room ready for the season Colette is moving males around and females are being moved and soon everyone will have stickers so we know who goes with how for this season. I think we will begin breeding by next week. Should be an exciting season. Hope you produce some awesome new morphs as well.
